This charming double view depicts St. Moritz before the great tourism boom — the wild waterfall and the still village-like Bad St. Moritz with its distinctive bell tower. Signed by draughtsman Ludwig Rohbock and engraver G. M. Kurz, the sheet belongs to the popular topographical steel-engraving series of the mid-19th century. Provenance
Rückseitig trägt der Rahmen das Etikett der traditionsreichen Basler Werkstatt «Zum Goldige Rahme» (F. + M. Ropélé-Vogt, Spalenvorstadt 24, 4051 Basel) — Bilderrahmen, Vergolden, Restaurieren. Der Stich wurde also in Basel fachmännisch gerahmt und gepflegt, was auf eine sorgfältige Schweizer Provenienz und einen dekorativen, ausstellungsfertigen Zustand hinweist.
